Blast kills at least 5, wounds 30

A suicide attacker in eastern Afghanistan has blown himself up at the funeral of a slain provincial governor, killing at least five policemen and wounding 30 other people.
A man strapped explosive device in his body exploded himself at the funeral ceremony of Hakim Taniwal in Tanai district of Khost province today, killing self and five others," a local police said.
A large number of government official were also present at the funeral ceremony.

Hakim Taniwal, head of the southeastern province of Paktia bordering Pakistan but who came from Khost, died when a suicide bomber threw himself on the official's car on Sunday. He was the first governor killed in several assassination attempts across the country since the fall of Taliban in 2001.

However, authorities in the capital city have yet to make comments.
"Yes, I confirm that there was an explosion in Khost province today but we have not received information so far," an official at the office of Interior Ministry spokesman said.
More than 2,300 people mostly militants, according to military officials have been killed in the post-Taliban nation since January this year.
