Sony has refused from the UMD format

The Sony Company has decided to refuse from films output on disks of UMD format, created specially for the PlayStation Portable portable console. The renunciation from UMD is connected that the films put out on these carriers, are not demand by the PSP owners, the site Realtech informs.

As alternative for UMD, Sony has made a choice to Memory Stick. On these maps of memory Sony plans to sell films.

Let's remind, that the first messages about the interruption of films release on UMD appeared in March, 2006, when a range of the largest film-companies have announced about the stopping the support of this format. The representatives of the film-companies agree in opinion, that the films release on UMD carriers is not profitable in view of the lowest sales level.
