Microsoft will be fined by the EU

The EU authorities are going to fine the Microsoft company for $200-300 million for failure to execute the decision of antimonopoly services. The sources in EU have informed about it.

EU is going to enter the new penalties for the company in case of the refusal to execute the instructions of 2004, requiring to make program codes open for developers of competing products.

According to sources, if the company till July 31 will not agree to perform the requirements, it should daily pay up to €2 million of penalties.

In March 2004, after five years' investigation Microsoft was already fined on €497 million. At that time it was order to begin sales of Windows operating system without the Media Player program and make accessible the information necessary for the competing developers.
